What cards can stop Honest and Kaluts Effect?

Me and my friend were deuling and i run honest in my deck. He attackes with his Gorz into my Shining Angel. I respond with Honest to absorb his attack during damage step and he chains with compulsory to return my monster to my hand to stop honest’s effect and he continues his attack? can he do this? and he said he can also stop kaluts effect with cards like E-con, Book of moon, and compulsory. Is this true? Any help would be of use. Cause we argue over this all the time.

Honest activates during the damage step, and the only cards that can be activated during the damage step is/are counter trap cards. If you use honest then the only card your opponent can chain it with at this point is divine wrath, he CANNOT activate compulsory or book of moon when you activate honest’s effect. He has to do it before he even attacks. BTW same goes for kalut.
